In this tutorial i will show you how to make a simple girll. I use this grill many times because you can model in a very short time. Even if you are a beginner you can follow this tutorial easely. Below you have a project where i’ve used this kind of grill. (at the rear bumper)
1 Start by making a line like this one :
2. Now in the modifier menu : in the “Rendering” sub-menu check “Enable in Render” and also “Enable in Viewport”. Like this you can see what kind of settings you will make. Below, choose “Radial” and at thickness you can choose what thickness you want. Its better if you will made the same as me. At “Sides” if you put 4 its enough at at the “Angle” put 45. By the way, you can checge thpse values. I’ve made the same grill that I’ve used in my project.
3. Having the line still selected, choose “Select and Move”. Hold Shift and trag to right. A little window will appear, the “Clone Optin”. At “number of Copies” choose how many copies you want to make.
4. Choose all the objects, then click on the “Mirror” to make a clone of those objects. The Mirror Optins will appear. If you are in the front viewport, at Axis choose “X”, and at offsetyou can move the clones to the right or left
5. Select all of the lines, right click > convert to > editable poly.
6. To make this grill a single object, click on that little square from “Attach” then in that window select all the objects and press “Attach”
7. Now we will remove the exces. Right click on the grill and choose quickslice. By the way, before choosing quicklice,, select the grill and in the modifier menu select the “edges”.
8. After you have sliced the grill using “Quickslice”, in the modifier menu choose “vertex” then on the grill, select all the vertices which are in the exterior of the slice and press delete
9. Final result :
