n this tutorial you will learn how to quickly make a simple, yet sleek ring shape and we also drop a little 'diamond' on top at the end.
Start with a pretty thin Tube primitive, with 3 Height Segments, one Cap Segment and about 32 Sides. Turn Slice On and Slice From 340 to 0.
Apply an Edit Poly modifier and select about 9 polygons as shown in our image.
Do the same on the other side as well as on the interior side. Delete the selected polygons.
Clean the new geometry by creating two edges on each 'end' of the ring. This is done fast if you have Snap to Vertex turned On.
You may have noticed the new holes in our geometry.
Use the Bridge tool to create new polygons between the edges.
Next select the edges that outline our object and Chamfer them by a low value (1.5-3.0).
Throw a MeshSmooth modifier with 2 Iterations and our ring is almost done.
